Computer Expectations
The use of computers in the classroom is a privilege, not a right.
Rules:
1. Students are allowed access to their assigned computers only. Students cannot lend out their computers.
2. Students must handle the computer carefully and respectfully; Computers should be picked up by their base only and be placed on safe surfaces.
3. Students must always use computers in clear view of their supervising adult.
4. Computers are school property. Computers are not to be decorated and the original name label must remain intact.
5. Students need to start the school day with the computer charged. Students are not to enter the computer home base once class has started. Computers should be plugged in at the end of each day.
6. Students must follow all classroom procedures.
7. Students are responsible for transporting their own computer to and from classes.
8. Students must remain on task when using computers in class. Only computer programs permitted by the teacher should be open or used.
9. Students are not to use any instant chat format (including opening a Google Doc and using it to converse) unless you are given permission from the teacher.
10. Students are not permitted to play any games, even educational games, unless given permission.
11. Students are not permitted to listen to music on their computers unless given permission from the teacher. If given permission, the student must use headphones, listen to appropriate music, and stay on task.
12. All school computer rules must be followed (No food or drink near the computers, etc).
Consequences:
1st offense: you will lose computer privileges for that class period (if little time remains, you will lose privileges for the following day).
2nd offense: You will lose privileges for 2 days and you will receive a detention.
3rd offense: You will not be permitted to use your computer in class until further notice, and you will receive an office referral.
Procedures:
1. Please have your computer with you in class everyday unless told otherwise.
2. View the stoplight cards at the front of the room when you first walk into class:
RED: Your computer should not be turned on.
YELLOW: Please turn your computer on and wait for further instructions.
GREEN: You should be working on the assignment given to you.
3. When using GoogleDocs, please follow the correct protocol for labeling your document:
In the title it should read: Class Period- “Title given by teacher”
Example: 1st period/ latitude and longitude
4. Refer back to past assignments in your drive and view teacher comments.
5. Keep your files organized in your Google Account.
6. The class website is www.Mrsbing.weebly.com
7. When using the blog on the Weebly, you must include your first name (and your first name ONLY) in the “name section.” All posts must be appropriate and on task.
8. Surf safely.
9. Save often!
And always remember...
Do not share you passwords.
Do not use each other's accounts.
Check your battery power. If the battery gets low plug into a charger and then change the battery.
